Happy National Pet Day!

National Pet Day was established in 2006 by Colleen Paige, an animal welfare advocate, and pet & family lifestyle expert. She also invented other impawtant pet holidays, including national dog day, puppy day, cat day, black dog day, and wildlife day.

Colleen founded these unofficial holidays for animals, to celebrate the happiness and joy that they brought to us hoomans. These holidays also raise awareness for pets in shelters who are waiting for help by encouraging pet lovers to adopt, rather than to buy from unethical farms. That’s why “Adopt! Don’t shop!” became the holiday’s motto!
So grab your furry pals and celebrate them with lots of love!
