When we welcome a furry friend into our lives, it doesn’t matter if they are a dog, cat, or anything else. Once time passes, you’ll realize that they are an important part of your life! They blend seamlessly into our routines, creeping their way into our hearts. But once we take a step back, we might realize that welcoming them into our lives was a crucial turning point!

Today, we’re taking you all to meet K.Eye, a mother to an adorable poodle named Dumbo! Here, she shares heartwarming stories, and her experience caring for her son from another species! She also tells us about Dumbo’s experience as a model. Where he had to learn a new trick in just 5 minutes! Let’s get to know them better in this interview.

Please introduce yourself

Hi, my name is Sarimon Chanphithak and I’m Dumbo’s mom. He’s a poodle.

What’s Dumbo’s personality like?

He understands everything, and he’s very expressive. When something doesn’t go his way, you can tell. I’ve had him for 3 years already – he’s my dog but everyone helps out.

How has your life changed since you met Dumbo?

It really changed. I didn’t really care much or had a schedule before Dumbo. Everything was so flexible. But once he came into my life, I woke up at 8 to take him for a bathroom walk in the morning. At lunch, I have to feed him, and at 4 in the afternoon, I take him for another walk. My life gained so much structure after Dumbo.

Normally, after waking up I just eat whenever I want. But now, with Dumbo, I have to think about what he’s going to eat, if he needs the bathroom, or even when we go on vacation. I now have a list of what I need for him and I – he added another bag into my life. There’s been more planning and structure since he came along.

Challenges of being a pet parent

I think the most challenging part .There was one time someone contacted me for him to be a model. It was like a wedding photo studio, and he also had to wear glasses. But he’s never done that before! We had to teach him the night before. Dogs can usually only take 5 minutes to learn a trick each day. So we had 2-3 rounds to teach him. The job was the next morning. He was still and they sent us photos of him with glasses! He can be a model. So cute with glasses on.

Does Dumbo know how to ride a motorcycle? 

Honestly, he could do it because we were riding in the neighborhood. Usually, we take a walk but I was really lazy that day. So I was going to ride the bike while he walked. But then the distance became too far, so he hopped up front. I was planning to carry him while I rode my bike, but he was able to stand there on the way back.

How does Dumbo show affection?

When it comes to showing love, before bedtime, I’ll be doing something and he’ll walk right up to me, or sleep near me. He also lets me cuddle for the whole night, cuddles are a nightly ritual. Every morning, since cuddling can be hot he’ll nap around cool places in the house. But if he sees me move, he’ll come right back into my arms for a snuggle.

Things dog parents should know

Do your research. Some people have pets but never really research anything further. If something happens, or they are ill – Dumbo’s been sick before because I didn’t do my research prior to getting him. It was hectic in the beginning, and I was really sad then. But now it’s okay, just do your research before you take them in.
